Declaration of the Results of the Bye-Elections for National Assembly Members
[CLOSED] This post is no longer validThe Election Commission of Bhutan, hereby notifies the general public that Mrs. Karma Lhamo of DNT has been elected as the representative from Monggar Demkhong of Monggar Dzongkhag and Mr. Karma Dorji of DNT has been elected as the representative from Nganglam Demkhong of Pema Gatshel Dzongkhag at the poll held on 29th June, 2021.
The Election Commission of Bhutan under Section 443 and 447 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 2008, hereby notifies the general public that Mrs. Karma Lhamo of Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa has been elected as the representative from Monggar National Assembly Demkhong of Monggar Dzongkhag and Mr. Karma Dorji of Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa has been elected as the representative from Nganglam National Assembly Demkhong of Pema Gatshel Dzongkhag at the poll held on 29th June, 2021.
The overall voter turnout and registered voter information are as follows:
1. Total registered voters = 18,500 (8,828 male and 9,672 female)
2. Total number of votes cast = 11,420 (5,154 male and 6,266 female)
a. EVM votes = 5,558 (2,352 male and 3,206 female)
1. EVM votes in Polling Stations = 5,059 (2,147 male and 2,912 female)
2. Mobile Voting Booth using EVM = 499 (205 male and 294 female)
b. Postal votes = 5,862 (2,897 male and 2,965 female)
1. Conventional Votes = 5,094 (2,554 male and 2,540 female)
2. Mobile Voting Booth using Ballot Paper = 768 (343 male and 425 female)
3. Overall Voter Turnout = 61.73%

Registered voters above the age of 65 and voters living with disabilities were facilitated through Mobile Voting Booth using EVM to vote in Monggar Demkhong on 22nd and 23rd June, 2021. In Nganglam Demkhong, registered voters above the age of 65, voters living with disabilities, polling stations where there were less than 100 voters, voters residing in Nganglam Throm and its periphery were facilitated with Mobile Voting Booth from 24th to 27th June,2021.
The four candidates who contested in the bye-elections are reminded that they must file the returns of election expenses to the Monggar and Pema Gatshel Dzongkhag Election Office or directly to the Public Election Fund Division in the Election Commission Head Office within thirty days of the declaration of the results i.e., not later than 5 PM of 30th July, 2021 in the prescribed form (Public Election Fund Form No.9A(GE).
The general public and all stakeholders may note that the Election Petition Period of 10 working days for this bye- elections starts from today and shall end at 5 p.m. of 13th July, 2021.
In the wake of the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in different parts of the country and the high risks of local transmission, all gatherings and celebrations shall be prohibited until such time the situation improves.
