Communications Officer Information

Position:    Officer (Communications)
Contract Terms: 5 years extendable based on performance
Reporting Line: Director, DPCCC
Duty Station: Thimphu, Bhutan

Primary Responsibility: To ensure smooth functioning of communications and networking of the organization, and adequate publicity of RSPN programs at national, regional and international level through issue of newsletter, annual report and posting of news and articles on regular basis.

Information and Knowledge Management:
● Create, update and maintain RSPN information repository
● Maintain an archive of all RSPN publications and audio-visuals
● Ensure all inventory of library books and other resources are properly maintained
● Maintain and timely update donor database

Communications and publicity
● Assist the Director, DPCCC in strategic communication planning and implementation to
increase RSPN’s visibility.
● Assist delivery of all publication, newsletter and annual report to respective recipient
including donors, supporters, partners, and RSPN members
● Spearhead development of fundraising materials in consultation with Executive
Director and DPCCC Director
● Develop, design and disseminate communication material including press releases,
articles and social media content
● Collaborate with other programs and program staff and define key issues, message and
communication channels for public advocacy initiatives
● Assist in coordinating and organizing workshops, seminars, campaigns, and events
● Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication channels
with mass media representatives, news services, editors, etc., to encourage accurate
and favorable reporting of the organization's activities.

● Identify public information needs and opportunities and apprise the management on
those findings
● Organize/attend meetings, press briefings and other public events as needed and brief
organization through appropriate means

Publication and Multimedia
● Provide input to all major organizational documents to ensure they are well written
and clearly communicating the messages
● Backstop RSPN programs in designing and layout of dissemination and outreach
materials

● Oversee the content of the website and ensure that contents are regularly updated.
● Undertake other tasks as required and assigned by the supervisor

Qualification
● University degree in Mass Communications or experience in visual communications,
advanced graphic design and social media management

Skills required:
● Fluency in Dzongkha and English (written and spoken)
● Ability to use WordPress website management system
● Ability to handle DSLR cameras and other audio visual equipment and experience in
photography and videography
● Sound knowledge and experience of working with the media and web-based
communication
● Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
● Excellent knowledge and experience in graphic designing app such as Adobe Creative
Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and Acrobat)
● Good inter-personal skills and the ability to establish excellent working relationship
with colleagues.
● Ability to plan, prioritize and organize work independently.
● Demonstrate resourcefulness, initiative, maturity, diplomacy and advocacy skills.
