Dzongkha Development Commission was established as an autonomous body in 1989. It is now the premier institution responsible for developing and promoting Dzongkha in the country. The Dzongkha Development Commission (DDC) carries out planning for promotion of Dzongkha through the education system and public service in the country as well as codification and elaboration of the language.
