The Environment and Climate Change Committee has been meeting and interacting with the relevant stakeholders in reviewing and scrutinizing the Biodiversity Bill of Bhutan 2021. 

Today, the Committee made a field visit to the National Seed Centre, Paro, and met with the officials of the Centre. The meeting was chaired by the Hon’ble Gyambo Tshering, Chairperson of the Committee. The Committee, after an interactive session with the officials on the Bill, sought feedback from them on maximizing the benefit of the Bill to the general public. The Committee also visited and held consultative meetings with the Research Development Centre (Yuispang) and National Biodiversity Centre on 3rd August 2021. 

The Biodiversity Bill of Bhutan 2021 was introduced for the First and Second reading during the 5th Session of the Third Parliament. The Committee will present its findings and recommendations on the Bill for the Third Reading in the upcoming winter session.
