What will you be working on? You will serve as the frontline extension officer supporting farmers and livestock rearers within your assigned Gewog/DVH jurisdiction, with work that is predominantly field-based. Your responsibilities will include providing doorstep veterinary and para-veterinary services such as vaccination, deworming, and basic treatment of livestock; conducting artificial insemination (AI) services and advising farmers on breed improvement; carrying out disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, and reporting to the Dzongkhag Veterinary Hospital; and promoting dairy and livestock-based farming practices, including feed and fodder management, housing, and hygiene.

What we are looking for? We are looking for a motivated and physically fit individual with a diploma or certificate in Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, or a related field, who is willing to work in remote and rural gewog settings. The ideal candidate should have a genuine interest in livestock and dairy farming, sound practical knowledge of animal health, breeding, and husbandry practices, and the ability to perform basic veterinary procedures such as vaccination, deworming, and artificial insemination. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as the role involves regular engagement with farmers and rural communities, often requiring patience and cultural sensitivity. Candidates should be self-driven and capable of working independently with minimal supervision, comfortable with extensive field travel (including on foot or by rough terrain where necessary), and willing to respond promptly to livestock emergencies and disease outbreaks.
