The Forest Ecopreneur Incubation Programme is designed to empower Bhutanese entrepreneurs to build businesses that generate real economic value while contributing to the preservation and restoration of Bhutan’s forest ecosystems.
What We Offer
This 4-month, field-driven programme starting in June combines in-person incubation clinics with structured field assignments giving participants the tools, mentorship, and networks to turn their vision into a viable, sustainable enterprise. Here’s what participants can expect:
1. Comprehensive Curriculum:
– Market Validation, Product Development & Early Market Access.
– Compliance, Governance & Ecosystem Navigation.
– Financial Foundations & Capital Pathways.
– Market Access & Transition (Demo Day).
2. Financial & operational strengthening: such as bookkeeping systems & basic accounting tools.
3. Free access to business support services & ecosystem partners: including guidance on compliance, permits, branding, packaging, supplier structuring, and market engagement.
4. Mentorship & verification support: one-on-one sessions + structured progress verification.
5. Ecosystem access & market linkages: government agencies, private sector, buyers, ecosystem partners.
6. Field experiences & community engagement: including field trips to relevant ecosystem actors and partnerships for practical, field-driven learning.
Who Should Apply?
We’re looking for entrepreneurs working in – or looking to grow – businesses across the following sectors:
– Sustainable forestry value chains (woodchip, bamboo, rattan products).
– Non-timber forest products (honey, mushrooms, natural oils, resins).
– Pharmaceuticals and food & beverages from forest resources.
– Eco-agriculture and sustainable energy production.
– Ecotourism, water management, carbon markets.
– Forest protection and technology applications.
Stage Of Business:
1. Idea-stage entrepreneurs who have begun initial validation or field engagement.
2. Early-stage startups actively testing or selling a product or service.
Type of venture:
– Product-based businesses (e.g. forest products, food, natural goods).
– Service-based businesses (e.g. ecotourism, environmental services).
– Hybrid models combining both product and service.
Eligibility Requirements:
– Must be a Bhutanese entrepreneur with an idea-stage or early-startup business related to forest ecosystems or sustainable development.
– Open to individuals with a passion for forest conservation and entrepreneurship.
– Ability to commit to the full 4-month programme.
Application Deadline: 23 May 2026
Programme Duration: 4 months (starting June 2026)
Location: Hybrid (Loden Foundation Office, Thimphu for 5-day clinic monthly + Online Sessions)
