Position Title: Associate Professor (Indian National) 

Specialization: International Climate Change and Environmental Law

Position Status: Contract (3 Years with possibility of extension)

Duty Station: Paro, Bhutan

The Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law (JSW Law), the first and only Law School of the Kingdom of Bhutan, invites applications from highly qualified Indian nationals specializing in the broad field of International Climate Change and Environmental Law for the position of Associate Professor.

Job Purpose:

The Associate Professor will deliver high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate legal education through teaching one to two courses per semester, supervise graduate research, engage in scholarly research, and contribute to institutional governance in line with JSW Law’s Teaching–Research–Service mandate.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in International Climate Change and Environmental Law and related subjects.
• Develop syllabi, teaching materials, and assessments.
• Supervise graduate research including theses and dissertations.
• Conduct and publish original research in peer-reviewed journals.
• Serve on academic and administrative committees.
• Support national and international academic collaborations and outreach.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• Ph.D. or S.J.D. in Law from a recognized university with specialization in International Climate Change and/or Environmental Law.
• Minimum 10 years of total professional experience including at least 3 years of post-Ph.D. teaching.
• Teaching experience in India and at least one foreign institution is mandatory.
• Minimum 8 peer-reviewed research publications.
• Fluency in English.
