The responsibilities of network and cloud infrastructure management are to oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of a secure and scalable IT infrastructure, which includes on-premise networks (LAN/WAN/VPN) and cloud environments. They ensure high availability, performance, and security of systems, manage automation and monitoring tools, and support disaster recovery and compliance efforts. This role also involves troubleshooting issues, optimizing infrastructure costs, collaborating with IT and security teams, and, in managerial positions, leading infrastructure projects, guiding teams, and aligning technology with business objectives.

The detailed roles and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Network Infrastructure Management

• Design, implement, and maintain LAN, WAN, VPN, and firewall architectures.

• Monitor network performance and ensure high availability and reliability.

• Manage network configurations, routing, switching, load balancers, and security appliances.

• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues promptly.

• Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices. 

2. Cloud Infrastructure Management

• Manage the AWS cloud environment, including compute, storage, and networking components.

• Set up and maintain cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).

  Optimize cloud cost, performance, and scalability.

• Implement backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability architectures.

3. Security and Compliance

• Enforce network and cloud security policies, including access control, encryption, and threat detection.

• Implement and enforce security controls on all devices, including encryption, antivirus, endpoint protection, and remote wipe capabilities.

• Ensure devices comply with organizational security policies and regulatory requirements.

• Regularly conduct vulnerability assessments and audits.

• Ensure adherence to organizational and regulatory compliance.

4. Automation and Monitoring

• Automate routine infrastructure tasks using scripts or tools.

• Implement and manage monitoring systems for infrastructure health.

• Respond to alerts and proactively address performance bottlenecks.

5. Inventory Management

• Maintain an accurate inventory of all IT equipment and devices, including laptops, desktops, servers, mobile devices, and peripherals.

• Track asset lifecycle from procurement to decommissioning.

6. Configuration and Deployment

• Configure and deploy IT devices according to organizational security policies and standards.

• Ensure devices are properly set up with necessary software, security patches, and configurations before deployment.

7. Collaboration & Support

• Work closely with DevOps, application, and security teams to align infrastructure with business needs.

• Provide Tier 3 support for network and cloud infrastructure issues.

• Document infrastructure designs, policies, and procedures.
