Emergency Medical Responders across the country will now have a distinct look with uniforms that will distinct them from the rest of the health workers. The Bhutan Emergency Aeromedical Retrieval (BEAR) Team will don a black uniform; the Emergency Medical Responders from hospitals will don a blue uniform and the ambulance drivers, a dark orange uniform. The uniforms, which are part of UNDP’s global project “Innovation for a Smarter, Greener and More Resilient 21st Century Bhutan” for COVID-19 response and recovery, funded by the Government of Japan, were handed over to the Ministry of Health, today.
The EMR uniform support is also a part of the overall package that UNDP is supporting MoH as a part of Health Systems Strengthening.
Till date, the Emergency Medical Responders, BEAR and ambulance drivers have had no standard dress code or uniforms to distinct them from the rest especially during the times of emergencies. They have been using uniforms provided by respective hospitals, which did not have any safety features.
The uniforms provided today has safety features like light reflector for enhanced visibility, especially at the night, wind-proof, ample function side pockets for storing essential items. The other safety features include double layer on knees for better protection and multi utility belts.
The uniform is also expected to contribute to the development of a sense of professionalism and also boost the morale of our front line workers who dedicate their services to saving critical lives 24X7.
People seen in the picture wearing uniform are:
- Pema yangki, EMR, JDWNRH
- Nar Bdr. Gurung, Ambulance driver, JDWNRH
- Neten Wangchuk, BEAR
