The Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan is pleased to announce that three denominations of the New Generation Ngultrum Banknotes will begin circulation from January 01, 2026.

The Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan is pleased to announce that three denominations of the New Generation Ngultrum Banknotes will begin circulation from January 01, 2026. The new denominations are Nu.100, Nu.500, and Nu.1000, all printed on polymer substrate.

All Ngultrum banknotes issued earlier shall continue to remain Legal Tender and both the series of banknotes will CОCIRCULATE until further notice.

The new series banknotes will be distributed to public through the Commercial Banks nationwide
