Scope of Work: Field investigators 

1. Position: Field Investigator/ Research Assistant: Qualitative Research
2. Location: Bhutan (Thimphu and Samtse, Sarpang and Dagana, Lhuentse and Trashi Yangtse)
3. Duration: February - April 2026
4. Background: Bhutan is currently implementing Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS) for pregnant and lactating women (PLW). Towards this, Vitamin Angels and Ministry of Health (MOH), Bhutan are conducting a situational assessment to understand MMS roll out across the country, including experiences of PLW, health workers and government stakeholders at national, district, and facility levels. This will be conducted across six districts in Bhutan: Thimphu, Samtse, Sarpang, Dagana, Lhuentse, Trashi Yangtse.

5. Scope of work

a. Conduct in-depth interviews with government stakeholders, health providers, PLW, and facility staff.

b. Facility observations and exit interviews

 i. Conduct exit interviews with PW attending their first ANC visits, immediately after their consultation

ii. Observe MMS distribution process

iii. Review facility registers, stock logs, expiry dates, storage conditions, IEC materials, etc.

C. Transcribe all audio recordings verbatim into English

*Please note that the selected candidates will have to undergo mandatory 3 days training including ethical certification which will be jointly conducted by Vitamin Angels and MoH

6. Qualifications

a. Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Anthropology, or related field (students currently enrolled in a Master’s/Bachelor’s program in Public Health in any university of Bhutan are encouraged to apply)

b. Experience in conducting interviews, data collection

c. Strong skills in translation, transcription, and field documentation

d. Fluency in Dzongkha, Sharchopkha, Lhotshomkha plus English

e. Ability to travel extensively in rural districts
