Qualifications:

• Educational Background:
  
  

• Diploma or NC II: Diploma/NC (National Certificate) Level 2  in Computer System and Network Maintenance or Computer Hardware and Networking

Key Skills

Technical Skills:

• Hardware Troubleshooting & Repair:
  
  

•  Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair hardware components like desktops, laptops, printers, and other devices.
  
  
• Knowledge of how to replace, upgrade, or repair components such as hard drives, RAM, motherboards, and power supplies.
  
  

• Software Installation & Troubleshooting:
  
  

• Proficient in installing and configuring various operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and common software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, antivirus and other applications).
  
  
• The ability to diagnose and resolve software issues, such as system crashes, application failures, and malware infections, etc.
  
  

• Networking:
  
  

• Knowledge of basic networking concepts such as IP addressing, routers, switches, subnets, and Wi-Fi setup.
  
  
•   Familiarity with network troubleshooting tools (e.g., ping, traceroute, netstat, etc.)
  
  
•   The ability to set up and maintain wired and wireless networks, including resolving connectivity issues.
  
  

•  Operating Systems & Systems Administration:
  
  

• Proficiency with multiple operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux).

•  Cybersecurity Basics:
  
  

•   A good understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, such as installing and maintaining antivirus software, firewalls, and performing security updates to protect systems from malware and hacking attempts.

• Remote Desktop & Help Desk Support:
  
  

• Provide remote desktop software (e.g., TeamViewer, AnyDesk,) to assist users remotely.

Soft Skills:

• Communication Skills:
  
  

• Good communication skills to interact with users, explain technical issues in simple terms, and provide clear instructions or support.
  
  

• Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting:
  
  

• The ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions is critical for success in this role.
  
  

1. Customer Service Skills:
   
   

• Many IT technicians work directly with end-users. Being patient, helpful, and clear when explaining technical issues is important for providing excellent service.
