The Cyclonic Storm ‘YAAS’ (pronounced as Yass) formed as a low pressure on 23rd May, 2021 and intensified as a cyclone storm at 00 UTC of 24th May, 2021. It is likely to make landfall and cross north Odisha-West Bengal coast between Paradip and Sagar Islands around noon of 26th May, 2021 as the Very Severe Cyclonic storm as per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
Impact over Bhutan
For now, Bhutan is away from the forecast track of the cyclone. However, under the influence of the cyclone, cloudy weather with light to moderate rain is likely over the country during the next 72 hours (towards the evening of 25th May to 27th May). Moderate rain with thunder and lightning over the southern and isolated places of central parts of the country is forecasted during the same period.
