SERVICE: ISSUANCE OF ORDINARY PASSPORT

DOCUMENT REQUIREMENT:
• Duly completed application form.
o Passport-size photograph:
§ Photo must not be more than six months old
§ 45 mm x 35 mm with the facial image taking up 70-80% of the
photograph
§ In national attire
§ White background and without border
• A copy of Citizenship Identity Card (for adults) “OR” Nationality Certificate issued
by the Ministry of Home & Cultural Affairs (for minors) along with parents’ CID
copies.
o Produce original documents for verification purposes.
• Security Clearance Certificate (RBP)
o The SCC is a prerequisite and must be approved at the time of applying for the
passport.
TURN AROUND TIME (TAT):
The TAT for processing of ordinary passport is three working days from the date of submission
of duly completed application.
FEE:
• Ordinary passport = Nu. 1000/-
• Ordinary passport (minor, child below 18 years) = Nu. 800
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Please produce the acknowledgement receipt during the collection of the passport.

SERVICE: REPLACEMENT OF ORDINARY PASSPORT
TYPES OF REPLACEMENT:
Replacement due to:
• Lost cases/Damaged cases
• Expiry of the passport
• Exhaustion of pages
DOCUMENT REQUIREMENT:
• Duly completed application form
o Passport-size photograph:
§ Photo must not be more than six months old

• For lost cases: Detailed Statement of loss of passport, verified by the Royal Bhutan
Police
• FIR Report from the RBP with confirmation of inability to recover the lost passport
• For replacement due to expiry: Process for a new passport
• For Replacement due to exhaustion of pages: produce the old passport with
application
TURN AROUND TIME (TAT):
The TAT for processing of replacement of ordinary passport is three days from the date of
submission of duly completed application.
FEE:
Replacement due to:
• Lost cases - Nu. 5,000/- penalty and Nu. 1000/- for the new passport processing fee.
• Expiry of the passport - Nu. 1,000/-
• Pages exhausted - Nu. 1000/-
• Minor (under 18 years) – Nu. 800/-
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Information on loss of passport must be reported at the earliest to the nearest Police station and
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or nearest diplomatic/consular mission.
