The Double Lanning of 12.00 km Northern East-West Highway (NEWH) from Viewpoint to Trongsa is completed and handed over to the Department of Roads, Regional Office Trongsa today on the auspicious 25th day of the 3rd Lunar Bhutanese month by M/s Hi-Tech Company Pvt. Ltd., Punakha.Two contract packages viz Viewpoint to Bjeezam and Bjeezam to Trongsa were awarded to M/s Hi-Tech Company Pvt. Ltd., Punakha with due National Competitive Bidding process at the quoted amount of about Nu. 85 million and Nu. 50 million respectively. The works were awarded in December and January 2020 respectively and both the packages were completed on 15th March 2021.Despite the covid-19 pandemic situation and nationwide lockdowns, the Viewpoint to Bjeezam package could complete 53 days ahead of the revised intended completion date and the Bjeezam to Trongsa package could complete exactly on the revised intended completion date.With the completion of of this last stretch of NEWH, now we have uninterrupted double lanned(7.5m carriage width) lateral East-West Highway of 233km from Semtokha (Thimphu) to Nangar (Bumthang). The time taken to travel from Thimphu to Trongsa (180km) has drastically reduced to a minimum of Four and Half Hours.M/s Hi-Tech Company Pvt.
