With funding support from William H. Geiger Foundation, a training on Natural Dyes, using both traditional and contemporary methods is currently ongoing in Tsangkhar, Radhi gewog, Tashigang. The 7 days training that commenced on 8th April is being conducted in collaboration with APIC (Agency for Promotion of Indigenous Crafts) with the aim to help weavers revitalize and popularize the art of yarn dyeing. The training will cover the introduction of dye materials and different mordants, processes such as scouring, preparation of yarns and pre-mordanting, followed by intensive hands-on experience. 30 members from 4 villages namely Tsangkhar, Pakaling, Khudungpang and Dikiling under Radhi gewog are taking part in the program. Members of the gewog administration, Manggup and Tshogpa were also present during the opening session. As part of the support conveyed to the rural women in the communities, the acquisition of ‘Radhi buras’ has concluded today. The same support will be extended to communities in Lhuntse and Bumthang.
