TARAYANA RURAL CRAFTS (TRC)

Terms of Reference

Position: Sales Person                 

Employment status: Regular

Direct Supervisor: Manager, TRC

Overall Supervisor: Secretary General

Work station: Tarayana Rural Crafts, Thimphu  

  1. Brief Background of the TRC

Tarayana Rural Crafts (TRC) is one of the sister concerns under Tarayana Foundation and the main objective of TRC is to produce and promote artisanal products from rural villages working closely with Artisans and self-help groups nationwide. The products are crafted by skilled artisans whose families have been involved in the craft for generations, using natural materials that are available locally. The artisans are provided with the necessary tools and skills to revive traditional arts and crafts while adapting to new market demands. 

  1. Duties and responsibilities

The Sales Person shall undertake the responsibilities of selling the products of Tarayana Rural Crafts from the designated place. The following responsibilities shall cover in general but are not limited to:

  • Assist Manager in formulating sales and distribution strategies prior to launching the services in the market.
  • Maintain all the sales records in the Rance lab Software System and ensure recording the data into correct figures.
  • Maintain weekly stock inventory and submit it to the Manager.
  • Arranging sale items systematically and maintaining a distribution list by establishing sales categories (Example, item, types, model, price etc).
  • Maintain and connect strong relationships with the clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Take necessary measures for achieving the annual sales target in collaboration with the team.
  • Represent TRC along with the Manager at Trade Association Fairs to promote the products/services.
  • Assist the Manager in assessing market potential for new and existing products, considering the demand and supply of the product.
  • Collect feedback from the Clients and report to the Manager for further improvement.
  • Maintain sale transactions in a sales ledger book for both online and cash received.
  • Deposit the cash received to the maintained bank account periodically.
  • Shall carry out any other official tasks delegated by Supervisor/Manager.
  1. Eligible criteria (Job Knowledge/Technical Expertise)
  • Should have basic knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint etc.
  • Should be fluent in English and Dzongkha.
  • Should be smart enough to explain product details to customers.
  • Provide knowledge to co-workers about new products and services that we are selling. Client Orientation.
  • Enable smooth relationship between client and the service provider.
  • Keep clients informed of problems or delays in the provision of service.
  • Create innovative ideas to attract new clients and maintain existing clients.
  • Provide proactive services to the client.

  • Improve the sale of products/services by providing the service to the clients and managing the channel partners.
  • Understand the current markets and provide market trend information to the Manager.
