Job Description: About BARC – In Pursuit of Gross Animal Happiness The vision of the BARC realize Gross Animal Happiness, which entails stimulating the progression of Bhutan’s society towards Gross National Happiness (GNH), where animals are treated and cared for with respect, kindness and compassion, and where a healthy and happy co-existence of animals and humans is the norm. The BARC aims to achieve this vision through (i) animal rescues; (ii) medical treatment; (iii) sterilisations; and (iv) advocacy and lobbying for animal welfare. Short description of the responsibilities Realize under supervision of the BARC Manager the following responsibilities: • Provide on a daily basis basic care to in-house patients, including food preparation and feeding, as well as cleaning of animal quarters and BARC compound; • Inform management on well-being of all animals at the BARC centre, through daily monitoring of physical and mental condition of all in-patients, in close collaboration with centre staff; • Help with animal rescues as and when required, in close collaboration with BARC staff; • Help with all kind of tasks related to shelter functioning, including intake of out-patients, collection of food items and uptake of shelter facilities; Requirements • No formal education required; • Willingness to be hands-on and hard working; • Ability to be open minded, flexible and to learn; What we offer The initial contract is fixed-term for 12 months, with possibility for extension and transition into a permanent position at the BARC. Depending on experience and qualifications, the monthly starting salary will be Nu. 12,200 per month. A bonus of Nu. 1.000 for full working month and bonus for working on national holidays will be provided. BARC follows the labour conditions of MoICE, with six days per week work. Probation period six months, after which annually 18 paid leave days and 5 paid sick days will be provided.
