The National Statistics Bureau in its efforts to leverage the use of administrative data for statistical purposes, to fill gaps in the data available to policy and decision makers to monitor progress, has come out with the Vital Statistics Report using the data maintained by the Department of Civil Registration and Census (DCRC) under the Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs (MoHCA). This is the first report of its kind using the administrative data. It provides detailed statistics on birth registration, death registration as well as its completeness and many other related statistics for 2019. Such information can be a rich and cost-efficient source for the production of timely official statistics.
