National Council elects the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson

In accordance with the National Council Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan and the Rules of Procedure of the National Council of Bhutan, an election for the post of Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson was conducted today in the session hall.
Prior to the election, the nominees were allowed to address the National Council outlining their goals and strategies if elected. There were four candidates for the post of Chairperson and four candidates for the post of Deputy Chairperson.
In the election for the post of Chairperson, Hon'ble Sangay Dorji from Chukha Dzongkhag secured the highest number of votes.
Similarly, Hon'ble Dago Tsheringla from Haa Dzongkhag was elected as the Deputy Chairperson.
The election was organized by the National Council Secretariat in coordination with the Election Commission of Bhutan.
