The Department of Culture (DoC) is pleased to announce the "2nd training course on Conservation of heritage sites" from february 13, 2023 to April 27, 2023.
 
There is a limited number of skilled heritage professionals in Bhutan that has the experience in the conservation and management works on heritage buildings. The conservation ot heritage building require exemplary skills that can be developed over the years of practice. Presently, the Department of Culture is responsible tor regulation
and execution of conservation works on heritage buildings. But it is imperative to develop the skills and capacity of local Bhutanese technical personnel who has minimal experiences in the field ot heritage conservation. Therefore, the Department is pleased to conduct the second training course on conservation of heritage building for the technical personal in private sector, with the aim to develop their skills on the conservation ot heritage buildings of Bhutan. This training course is provided free of course for the selected applicants. Moreover, we hope that this training will not only equip the participant to develop their skills but provide a platform for generating job opportunities to cultural enthusiast. It is further aimed to protessionalise heritage
experts and privatisation of works on heritage buildings.
 
Interested private technical professionals (architects and engineers) are requested to apply for the training program latest by January 20, 2023.

THE COURSE CURRICULUM


The course curriculum is designed so that participants can learn about basic principles and approaches to the conservation of heriiage siles. The national experts, from the Department of Culture will deliver the lecture on distinct yet interconnected sessions starting from introduction to the herifage sifes to principles and methodologies tor
heritage building conservafion and integration ot disaster fisk reducfion fo cultural heritage.
 
The course includes classroom lectures, work sessions, on-site studies and discussions, and field visits to the onging conservafion projects under the Department. The participants will have the opportunity to hear and learn from the internationally renowned cultural heritage experts as special lecture sessions.
