Role Purpose

• Responsible for planning, organising, and delivering learning experiences in his /her area of expertise to support the development of students in a stimulating learning environment
• Responsible for undertaking administrative, pastoral, research, and /or teacher development activities, to support achievement of The Royal Academy’s vision and philosophy
• Model and promote the highest standard of conduct, ethical principles, and integrity in action and behaviour.

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in any one of the following areas or a related field:

• Computer Science/ ICT
• Geography
• Economics

* Prior work experience is not necessary

Primary Responsibilities

Academic Responsibilities

• Implement the The Royal Academy’s curriculum, and contribute towards enriching the curriculum further by working collaboratively with other teachers, the Teacher Development Centre and Education Research Centre.
• Keep oneself updated on new developments and research in pedagogy, curriculum, and other relevant aspects of teaching with the objective of enhancing professional learning
• Undertake action research projects at The Royal Academy, and engage with the teacher community to share results and learnings; and solicit input on challenges faced and areas of improvement.

Teaching Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with other teachers and teacher educators on the preparation and development of teaching and learning that align with the philosophy of the The Royal Academy
• Plan, prepare for, and support students in their learning, in line with The Royal Academy’s curriculum
• Engage effectively with students in creating a stimulating learning environment
• Provide written/oral assessments, and communicate feedback to enable learning and improvement
• Discuss feedback with students and parents.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Maintain detailed academic records of students
• Undertake responsibilities for organising and participating in various events at The Royal Academy
• Participate in domain and team meetings to discuss progress of students.

Mentorship

• Promote the general well-being of individual /groups of students assigned to him /her
• Serve as guide and provide support and feedback to students on an individual basis regarding academic and personal difficulties
• Be responsible for the safety of students at the The Royal Academy
• Engage with parents for understanding their perspective, communicating on various aspects of student development, and encouraging their involvement and contribution at The Royal Academy.

Professional Development

• Actively participate in domain meetings, and tangibly contribute to building domain area expertise and across the domains
• Collaborate with other teachers to support student development and achievement in line with The Royal Academy’s vision
• Proactively pursue and participate in opportunities for enhancing  professional development through involvement in research /teacher development activities, sharing meetings and self-reflection.
