Job Posting
The Department of Communications (DCO)objectives are to lead the development of the corporate communications plan, drive prioritization and effort with expected impact for WHO; position WHO as the authoritative and trusted voice on health at the global level through working with technical departments to develop strategies to amplify WHO'snormative work; lead WHO media outreach, incl. crisis/ emergency communication with input from technical departments as well as across all 3 levels; drive all communication to the general public as well as responding to media enquiries; lead on global advocacy (e.g. health campaigns, public health information, donor visibility for resource mobilization); provide digital global production capacity& expertise to support all levels of the organization; strengthen the WHO brand from inside out through communication capacity building and impactful storytelling.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under the supervision of the Head of Strategy, Planning and Coordination Unit, the incumbent would support:
1) Communication Capacity Building:
- This is a dual role involving project management & training support project management of eLearning Modules, online synchronous training and Face to Face training as needed.
- Ensuring timely production and delivery of eLearning modules including language versions.
- Create Measurement, Evaluation & Learning for training.
- Support training operations, planning and managing the delivery of regular trainings.
- Support drafting and implementation of WHO Communication Capacity Building Plan.
- Support grant writing, pitching and managing training grants and report back.
- Support production of modules to support building the WHO brand inside out.
2) Branding and Strategy:
- Brand management supports the development of brand management databases, processes and protocols to address branding-related requests.
- Support review and update public-facing branding-related policies, and brand evaluation research strategy coordination support.
- Organize regular planning meetings and update the editorial calendar on a regular basis to ensure that it includes all relevant DCO activities and aligns with parallel planning processes.
- Support alignment of planning with WHO Communication strategy.
3) Any other duties relating to Strategy, Planning and Coordination.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: A first-level university degree in communications, journalism, or related field.
Desirable:
Experience
Essential: Five years minimum experience in the area of communications and project management. Proven experience as a communications trainer. Proven track record in project management.
Desirable: Experience in successfully producing and administering eLearning modules. Prior experience with digital /e-learning communication training. Relevant experience in WHO or another UN agency.

REMUNERATION
WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 62,120 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 4297 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
