Dr. Mwelecele Ntuli Malacela who is the Director of the Department of Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases at the World Health Organisation called on Her Excellency Dasho Dechen Wangmo at the sidelines of the World Health Assembly.

In the meeting, Dr. Malacela commended Bhutan’s work on containing Soil Transmitted Helminthiasis. Dr. Malacela and Her Excellency agreed to collaborate on addressing the snake bite issue in Bhutan which is understood to be largely under-reported. They also expressed their common desire to collaborate within the scope of the WHO’s road map for Neglected Tropical Diseases (2021-2030).

Lyonpo informed the director on Bhutan’s COVID-19 containment efforts.
