Her Excellency Lyonpo Dasho Dechen Wangmo made a courtesy call on the President of ICRC H.E Mr. Peter Maurer.
The President welcomed Hon’ble Lyonpo and congratulated her for the Presidency of the 74th Session of the World Health Assembly. He said that this was an appropriate recognition -by the international community- of Lyonpo’s excellent role in the national COVID-19 response works. Mr. Maurer hoped that the national red cross society will be a good help for the Ministry of Health as it continues to carry out its COVID-19 response works.
Hon’ble Lyonpo thanked the President and conveyed the warm wishes and greetings of Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen, the President of the Bhutan Red Cross Society. Lyonpo stated that her trip to Geneva would not be complete without meeting the ICRC and expressing our gratitude. She updated on the work of the Bhutan Red Cross Society and expressed appreciation to the contribution of the Bhutan Red Cross Society.
The Bhutan Red Cross Society continues to play a very important role in the national response to COVID-19 by coordinating critical aspects of our response such as dead body management, provision of transport services and services for victims of domestic violence during lockdowns.
