The Chairperson of the Economic and Finance committee, Hon’ble Kinley Wangchuk presented the Committee’s Review Report on the National Budget for Financial Year 2021-22 to the House today. The National Budget was referred to the Committee on 28th May 2021 for review.

Presenting the Committee’s report, the Chairperson presented a total of eight recommendations along with five observations on National budget allocation THEME, National Credit Guarantee Scheme(NCGS), Economic Contingency Plan, Improvement of Farm Road (GSB and drainage), and Education sector. The recommendations were on issues ranging from the requirement of extensive awareness on NCGS  and a mechanism of hassle-free loan accessibility amongst all the Bhutanese with a regionally balanced plan, improving supply chain management and logistics arrangements for farmers selling their agricultural products, the need for a dedicated farmers’ representatives to mediate and assure transparency and accountability in the exports of their agricultural products, Dzongkhag Tender Committee to included Gewogs in the Committee for better development activities in the Gewogs, and requirement of a strictly regulated and dedicated budget under a capital head for school stationeries.

The House deliberated on seven recommendations today and will continue the deliberation tomorrow.
