The Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC) is pleased to announce the availability of Scholarship for Teacher Training Course under the Government of Japan (MEXT) Scholarship for 2023 intake as follows:

2. Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be teachers (civil servants only) who teach from Primary to Secondary Schools and must have served five years or more as of 1st October, 2023;
- Applicants, in principle must be born on or after 2nd April, 1988;
- Applicants must be medically fit as per the medical form attached underneath;
- Applicants must not have Masters Degree;
- Applicants must fulfill the Long-term training eligibility criteria prescribed in the BCSR 2018 in addition to the requirements of the donor
3. Scholarship Benefits
- Allowance of 143,000 yen per month (in case the candidate conducts research in a designated region, 2,000 or 3,000 yen per month will be added). The monetary amount may be subject to change each year due to budgetary reasons;
- Tuition and other fees (fees for the entrance examination, matriculation and tuition at the Universities will be paid by MEXT);
- Accommodation (to be managed from the allowance). However, residence halls are provided by some Universities but due to the limited number of rooms, some of these facilities may be unavailable. Those who are unable to find accommodation in the aforementioned facilities may live in regular dormitories of the University or in private boarding houses/apartments;
- Airfare (one time- to and fro).
4. Application Procedure
- Applications should be submitted to the Human Resource Development Division (HRDD), RCSC routed through the Ministry of Education latest by 10-Feb-2023 with the following documents:

6. Important Notes
- Candidates who get through after the selection interview should note that the scholarship is not confirmed until the Universities in Japan accept your admission (takes a few months). Therefore, the status of the scholarship shall remain as recommended until Universities in Japan confirm and the confirmation on the acceptance/non-acceptance of the admission is received from the Universities.
- Only those candidates who are committed to this scholarship or not planning for another scholarship in 2023 should apply. If the candidate withdraws after
getting selected, he/she shall be liable for HR actions;
- Nominations received without the endorsement of the agency and with incomplete documents will not be accepted for the purpose of short listing;
- Agencies should ensure that relevance of the course and only eligible candidates fulfilling requirements are forwarded to HRDD, RCSC on or before the deadline. In the event any discrepancies are found after the selection, respective agencies shall be held accountable.;
- Kindly note that the scholarship is provided under the funding of MEXT scholarship and all scholarship entitlements are confined to those offered by them.
