The Authority is pleased to inform the general public that in order to ensure the safety from EMF radiation from Mobile Base Transceiver  Station (BTS), the Authority is carrying out periodic EMF radiation measurement monitoring.

Recently from 7th June – 8th June 2022, the Monopoles BTS stations of the Bhutan Telecom Ltd and Tashi InfoComm Ltd in Paro urban areas were tested and monitored by the Authority. The measurement testing was carried out from the location which directly faced the sector antenna owing to the maximum radiation received in the main lobe. The minimum distance of measurement testing (between sector antenna and  testing equipment) is in the range of 6 meters to 20 meters. It is found that the EMF maximum exposure level from the monitored Monopoles BTS stations is lower than the benchmark standard and thus safe. The benchmark standard is based on the maximum exposure level standardized by the International Commission on Non-Ionising Radiation Protection (ICNIRP)
