The Social and Cultural Committee today commenced its review and in-depth study of the Royal Bhutan Police (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2021. The meeting was chaired by Hon’ble Karma Thinley, Chairperson of the Committee.

The Royal Bhutan Police (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2021 was introduced for first and second reading during the Fifth Session of the Third Parliament aiming to harmonize inconsistent provisions of the existing Royal Bhutan Police Act of Bhutan 2009 and to professionalize the police force.

The Committee discussed the clauses in detail and explored the way forward in terms of stakeholder consultations. The Bill will be tabled for the third reading in the upcoming winter session along with the Committee’s recommendations and findings.
