Qualification (pre-requisite): Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental and Climate
Studies/Forestry/ Social science/ Sustainable Development. Minimum 60% of Academic
score in Bachelor’s degree.

I.Overview
Tarayana Foundation was founded by Her Majesty The Queen Mother Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck and formally launched on 4th May 2003, by His Majesty The King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the then Crown Prince. Tarayana is a Civil Society Organization registered as a Public Benefit Organization (Registration No. CSOA /PBO-08) with the Civil Society Organization Authority of Bhutan.
The Vision of the Foundation is to create ‘A Happy and Prosperous Bhutan’ and the Mission is to “help the vulnerable and disadvantaged help themselves.” ‘Service from the Heart’ is the Motto of the Foundation. Compassion, Dignity, and Integrity are our core values.
II. The purpose of the position
The main responsibility of the Assistant Program Officer is to support implementing the Project. He/ She shall assist Program Coordinator to meet the overall project outcome within the targeted time.
He/She shall report directly to the Program Coordinator and shall work closely with the other Divisions for overall achievement of the organization’s goal.
III. Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Program Officer shall undertake the following responsibilities that shall cover
in general but are not limited to;
1. Programme Development and Implementation:
• Support and assist in developing and implementing program work plans, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
2. Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate project profiles and assist in preparing, filing, compiling, and disseminating program-related documents and materials.
• Support preparation of regular reports on programs and update project status highlighting financial and physical progress besides documentation of lessons learned with respective Field officers.
3. Data Collection and Analysis:
• Support data collection efforts and assist in presenting information necessary for program development and implementation.
4. Training and Logistics Support:
• Participate in training sessions for operations and project staff on program- related issues.
• Provide logistics support for missions, events, and project-related workshops.
5. Monitoring and evaluation
• Support monitoring and evaluation activities to track progress and measure the impact of programs based on the agreed Gantt chart and program targets/.
• Visit project sites from time to time for monitoring the progress, challenges intervention and provide technical guidance.
6. Communication:
• Maintain effective communication with stakeholders and project partners to foster collaboration and ensure project success.
• Assist in preparation of presentations, briefs, and other communication materials for assigned portfolios.
7. Financial Management:
• Assist in program financial management ensuring aligning the activities to the budget allocation.
• Verification of bills submitted by the field officers and others.
• Help prepare budget appropriation, track program implementation, and monitor fund utilization.
8. Administrative Support:
• Provide general administrative support daily, including scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and organizing files.
• Undertake any other relevant tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the management.
IV. Skills and Competencies:
• Strong understanding of project management principles, including planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation.
• Ability to plan/work on multiple assignments, juggle competing demands, and work under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in utilizing GPS and GIS tools such as ArcGIS and QGIS for data analysis and mapping purposes will be an added value.
• Dynamic leadership, strategic and analytical thinking.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Teamwork player and self-starter
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
