Press Release: India@75 Amrit Mahotsav: Plantation of saplings at the India House Estate on the eve of World Environment Day

The Embassy of India, Thimphu feels truly privileged and deeply blessed to be in Bhutan!

As a small tribute to express our complete solidarity with Bhutan and also to celebrate the biodiversity and the green environment of the land of the Thunder Dragon, the Embassy of India organized a function for plantation of saplings at the lawns of the Chancery building. Led by Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj, each resident of the India House Estate planted an individual sapling as a permanent contribution to the green wealth of Bhutan. They also took a pledge to work towards preservation of trees and the environment, in general as well as to care for and nurture the sapling they had planted, in particular. In the world’s only carbon negative country, the plantation of saplings represented another example of India’s numerous initiatives to implement the goals envisaged in the Paris Agreement to save Planet Earth.

The function also honours the India@75 Amrit Mahotsav, celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence.
