The Royal Monetary Authority (RMA) would like to inform the public that a person may carry up to a total amount of Ngultrum 25000/- in the form of a banknote or circulation coin when travelling into or out of Bhutan subject to the procedure or limits prescribed by RMA from time to time.

The Royal Monetary Authority (RMA) would like to inform the public that a person may carry up to a total amount of Ngultrum 25000/- in the form of a banknote or circulation coin when travelling into or out of Bhutan subject to the procedure or limits prescribed by RMA from time to time.
However, the RMA may issue clearance for a person to carry an amount exceeding ngultrum 25,000/- in the form of banknotes or circulation coins and the person shall declare the same at the entry or exit point to the DRC/RBP or relevant agency.
Nonetheless, a person carrying a ngultrum in the form of banknotes or circulation coins in excess of the prescribed limit and who has not obtained clearance from the RMA and made a subsequent declaration of the same at the DRC/RBP or relevant agency shall have their excess Ngultrum confiscated by the relevant agency.
