Sherubtse College, part of the Royal University of Bhutan, recently welcomed international faculty members from Europe under the Mobility for Learners and Staff programme, Erasmus+ project. Three faculty members from Constantine the Philosopher University in Slovakia, Professor Gabriel Bugár, Professor Peter Petluš, and Professor Viera Petlušová, visited from 20 April to 03 May 2023, while Professor Jean-Dider Pierre Maréchal from Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain visited from 22 April to 03 May 2023.

Additionally, Professor Galatchi Liviu-Daniel from Ovidius University of Constanta, Romania visited Sherubtse College on 03 May and will leave on the country on 13 May 2023.
During their visit, the international faculty members gave guest lectures and seminars to the students of Sherubtse College. The three faculty members from Constantine the Philosopher University gave guest lectures on “Water erosion of soil in agriculture,” High Mountain landscape’” and “Nature, Landscape planning and management of landscape” to the students of the Department of Environment and Life Sciences on 25 April, 2023. Professor Jean-Dider Pierre Maréchal gave a guest lecture on “Grounds of computational modeling methods of molecular systems and how they can be applied to a wide variety of systems in chemistry, physics and biology” to the students of the Department of Physical Science and the Department of Environment and Life Sciences on theoretical session.

Chemistry students were also provided with a practical session. Additionally, the Centre for Science and Environmental Research (CSER) organized a national seminar on computational studies for the quest of bioactive molecules and novel enzymes on 01 May 2023, resourced by him to the faculty of the Department of Physical Science, Department of Environment and Life Sciences, and other external organizations.
Finally, Professor Dr. Galatchi Liviu-Daniel from Ovidius University of Constanta gave a guest lecture on the topic “Environmental Security and Ecosystem Services in the Danube Delta” to the students of the Department of Environment and Life Sciences on 04 May 2023 and also met with the college management.

The international faculty members’ visit was a valuable opportunity for the students and faculty of Sherubtse College to learn from experts in their respective fields and engage in academic discussions. Sherubtse College thanked the visiting faculty members for sharing their knowledge and expertise under the Erasmus+ project and hoped to continue such collaborations in the future.
