We are so proud that Bhutan is one of the only Carbon Negative countries in the World. But I am sure you would have come across so much waste disposed of at our forest trails and surroundings. That's because we generate approximately 30 tons of plastic waste daily. Out of which most of our waste ends up in landfills located in our sacred mountains. We hardly sort our waste, let alone recycle. But here's a chance to help maintain Bhutan pristine by donating to the very first private waste management organization, Greener Way, which wants to reduce plastic pollution with a PET shredding unit.
Help us achieve Zero Waste to landfill.
With NU.75,00,000/- We can buy a Shredding unit.
The shredding unit will shred PET single used plastic waste. This helps to recycle plastic wastes into PET products which are used to make upgraded products such as bottles, etc. Hence plastic wastes get a new life and purpose. We have also converted plastic wastes(LDPE and HDPE) into Eco-Poles.
Moreover, we can motivate waste collectors with a better price for PET wastes, ensuring less goes to the landfills. It is an excellent opportunity for all of us to pin Bhutan on the globe as a model country where waste is not a problem, rather it is an opportunity for us to create a sustainable source of livelihood.
The campaign would also help strengthen the capacity-building activities for the whole nation on waste awareness, making people understand how waste will deplete the national resources.
Greener Way was established with the mission of reducing reliance on landfills and incinerators through the establishment of reuse and recycling programs. This is accomplished by developing an integrated solid waste management system, implemented in an environmentally sound, technically feasible, cost-effective, and publicly acceptable manner. In addition to commonly recycled items such as newspapers, magazines, brochures, metal food and beverage cans, and glass bottles and plastic containers; we provide opportunities for yard waste composting like electronics, and tires, and an annual household hazardous waste event.
Greener Way has an excellent educational outreach program like educating Bhutan on Waste Management that involves classroom presentations, environmental workshops, public displays, and exciting contests. Greener Way has a unique partnership with all the schools and institutions and provides funds for their nationally recognized recycling and recreation programs which include a popular Materials Exchange. Greener Way is putting in 100% effort to create a circular economy during the difficult times that the country is going through, we are differentiating ourselves from the scrap dealers in Bhutan in a way, Greener Way is building green industry, creating opportunities for all Bhutanese without gender discrimination.
With the intention that there will be a clean and green Bhutan for the future generations and as the waste in every part of the country is increasing drastically, Greener Way collected 280,000 Kg of dry waste in Dec 2021 only. This will have a huge impact on the landfill for sure. There will be a time that we will have diseases related to waste if we don’t act now. Of all, non-degradable plastic is the biggest issue. Therefore, please support Greener Way to solve the issue on single used plastic beverage bottles. The motive of having a shredding machine is to reduce PET bottles in the drain, steam, and rivers. Help us save Bhutan. Thank you!
