Sometimes, the smallest gift holds the greatest hope.
One day during a routine reconciliation, a small entry caught the attention of our finance team — a Nu. 5 donation. At first, it seemed like a mistake.
But then they saw the note attached.
It simply read:
“I am poor.”
No name. No address. Just five ngultrum, given quietly and without fanfare by someone who had almost nothing — and chose to give anyway.
That moment stopped us in our tracks. It reminded us that generosity doesn’t always come from abundance. Sometimes, the most powerful acts come from those with the least — not because they can, but because they care.
At the Loden Foundation, this single act of kindness reflects the very heart of our Loden Education Initiative — to ensure that no child’s dreams are limited by where they are born, or by what their family earns.
We see it every day:
- Children walking for hours just to attend school.
- Balancing studies with farm work.

- And still daring to dream of becoming teachers, nurses, engineers — the first in their families to go to college.
These children don’t ask for much.
Sometimes, all they need is a pencil. A uniform. A book.
